History
The diverse history of this home began when the land was purchased in 1841. Dr. Greenman, the local dentist purchased the land in 1861 and completed construction in 1868.
The Posey family purchased the home in 1880 and made significant changes to the home, including hand painted tiles that can still be seen on the grand staircase.
Herbert Hamilton purchased the home in 1903 for $5,000. Since 1950 the home has suffered greatly until it was restored in the 1990s. It has changed hands many times, serving as rooming house, Sorority, Fraternity, doll museum, antique store, office building and finally a residence and Bed and Breakfast. The house played an important role in the underground railroad during the mid
1800's.
