Pluses: It is all good, I spent most of my childhood summers up there.
If I could I would let my children spend their summers there too.
Other info: My grandparents and my Aunt and Uncle use to live there 20 years.
When we were kids my parents would send all us kids to go to Hornby. It has been years since I was up there but I always tell my kids that one day they have to experience the Island. Tribune bay was our favorite. I can still remeber my Grandfather saying he had to do the Denman dash (he was a big drinker). I will have to go through old pictures. We have allot of old ones. my grandparents were their up in the late 70's if you are interested in some old pictures please email me.

Pluses: Qiet town not to many people, very nice atmosphere, only 15 mins away from souris, which is a beautiful town.
Minuses: the town has pretty much died since the railway was removed, not alot of tourests, only one store with a small restraunt built in, only one church, that might be closing soon due to low funding,
A great place to... get away fromm all of your problems and just relax.

Pluses: Port Lorne has beautiful views.
Minuses: The lack of anywhere to get something to eat or drink
A great place to... See a splendid sunset.
Other info: Wilst the area is widely signposted with directions of how to get there along the main highway, many attracted to visit and wanting to stay awhile must be dissapointed there are no camping tables or facilities for visitors to have a picnic etc., or for that matter a bathroom stop.

Pluses: a great place to walk and relax while watching the wildlife. the people are friendly and always willing to help each other. Everyone waves when you meet them on the road.
Minuses: The museum is closing and the town is slowly losing all it's eldery characters with all the memories of "the good old days". Makinak without "The Masons" will seem very strange as the family has been there over a hundred years....
A great place to... grow up in....grow old in....

A great place to... stay and relax. The ocean is at your fingertips.
Other info: I love Margaretsville, Nova Scotia. It's quaint and hasn't been developed into Condominium nation. Hopefully a developer won't come along and change all this.

Pluses: red bay had a beautiful beach, the best for kids and dogs, even though we werent supposed to have our dog on the beach but nearly 20 other people had their dogs on the beach and frankly i couldnt go w/ out my dog. they have to have a summer too. they also like to swim which they loved the beach. clean, quiet, and shallow.
Minuses: the lodge that we stayed in, a dump, actually dump would have been better. disgusting, they didnt took care of the place at all. my tent is cleaner than their lodge. friendly staff but very careless, what a shame. actually the next day my husband had big headache and then we find out he got a major bite on his scalp, (dont know what it is yet) got all infected, went to the ER, and now he's on heavy antibiotics, thanks red lodge, were for sure be back, haha NOT, that would be deadly.
in case any one cares. RED BAY LODGE.
my son & I slept in our car, but my hubby wtayed in the cabin, in our sleeping bag w/ our dog, poor thing, now he's suffering. that was the most expensive parking lot.

Pluses: It is a fishing lodge, picturesque and quaint with some ramshackle buildings and a small dock with a fish cleaning station.
Minuses: No apparent services or supplies. For these visit Esperanza nearby or Tahsis.
A great place to... Locate for a recreational fishing stay.
Other info: Located near Esperanza and near Tahsis Narrows. From Tahsis Narrows it is a short run in a fast small boat to the area of Friendly Cove and good fishing. Windy afternoons in summer can make it uncomfortable in a small boat in Nootka Sound.

Pluses: *Good year round climate (for Alberta)
*great outdoor activities
Minuses: *the wind

*visitors that make a lot of noise with the off-road vehicles and cause damage with their activities.
A great place to... live
Pluses: I have been coming to Cumberland House since 1969. Just after the road opened in 1967 and well before the bridge was built. I came to hunt ducks. I found ducks and many good friends who have shared their home with me over the years. In 1991 I was lucky enough to get a lease on the Mossy River. We now have our duck camp there and I try to get to Cumberland once or twice a year to visit, and relax with friends in your great outdoors.
Minuses: It can rain and get cold once in awhile
A great place to... be yourself
A great place to... take a break from a busy world and relax.

Pluses: Snowflake was a wonderful, safe place to grow up in. We had everything you could want when we were children... it was much bigger then. We had a store, gas station/mechanic, hardware, post office, telephone office, community hall, skating and curling ring, ball park, Orange Lodge, and two churches.
We had Christmas Concerts, Fowl Suppers.....
Minuses: It is sad to see it as a ghost town.
