Built in the 1870's, the Rothschild-Pound House is an excellent example of second Empire Victorian Architecture. Formerly the residence of civic and industrial leaders, this grand old home suffered ill use and disrepair over the years. On the verge of destruction, it was saved from the wrecking ball through a concerted community effort and moved, intact to the protection of the Historic District. Completely renovated in 1994 by its owners, Mamie and Garry Pound, it is now a graciously appointed bed & breakfast.

Since the Rothschild-Pound House opened in January 1995, Mamie and Garry have purchased five additional cottages. Guests may choose from 18 rooms, each spacious and graciously appointed.

Digital cable television with movie channels, stocked mini-refrigerators and in-room coffee makes each suite inviting. Suites that open onto a full private kitchen are available as well. Some suites also feature wet bars. Fresh flowers, original art and 100% cotton sheets are standard at the Rothschild-Pound House. In addition, guests may enjoy the complimentary use of nearby health club facilities. All rooms offer wireless Internet access.

Each evening begins with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in one of the main parlors. Often guests enjoy meeting and conversing before dining at one of several nearby fine restaurants. Or perhaps they would prefer to curl up with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate instead.

Mamie creates breakfast with imagination and a sense of fun. Guests enjoy everything from a big southern breakfast, gourmet grits, specialty pancakes, to homemade breads, quiches and preserves. Breakfast is served according to the guest's schedule.

Interesting guests, good conversation and delicious food have brought many travelers here again and again. The guests who are more inclined to a quiet evening of work or relaxation find the Rothschild-Pound House very accommodating as well. Either way, it's a place a guest will feel pampered and comfortable, and hopefully will leave Columbus with a sense of the hospitality that made the South famous.

Cafe 222 is an 1890's building transformed to a charming eatery in historic Columbus. It's the cornerstone of the Rothschild-Pound Inn & Village. We are open for breakfast from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. 7 days/week. We open for lunch from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday-Friday.

Special Events: Cafe 222 is the perfect place for special events, parties or private dinners. We also have special event menus, to be served rather than buffet style.
