Introduction

The home was built by James Dibble and sold to Calvin Dibble in 1858. His portrait still hangs in the foyer. For many years, his granddaughter, Mary Edwards, and her family strictly used the house as their summer home.

Many antiques were left in the house by the Edwards family as they felt the pieces "belonged to the house." An 1835 Chickering grand piano, as well as a fainting couch, a four poster bed, marble top dresser and a Louis XIV couch were all left with the house.

The innkeepers, Kevin & Belma Marshall, have created a menu designed to leave you satisfied and full. The perennial and bulb gardens on the grounds surround the inn with their natural beauty as blueberries and blackberries grow wild all around. It’s truly a respite form life’s hubbub.

You might want to rock in a rocking chair on the side porch sipping lemonade or herb tea and take in the sight and scents...

The Inn is located six miles from the Bradley International Airport, five minutes from downhill skiing, and a walking distance from cross country skiing.
Connecticut is rich in history with numerous historical sites all with-in a 20 mile radius! The Mark Twain House, Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, The Hill-Stead Museum, Sarah Whitman Hooker Homestead, Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine, Noah Webster House, and more.
If you are looking for even more flora and fauna, McLean Game Refuge is right down the road; a favorite spot for bird-watchers and hikers.
If history is of interest to you, the Salmon Brook Historical Society is also located just down the road.
The entire history of the house, as well as Granby and surrounding areas, will be available to you.
Warm weather brings swimming, canoeing, and paddle-boating at beautiful Barkhamsted Reservoir, about twenty minutes away.
The Connecticut shoreline is only an hour away.
Day trips to Boston, New York, Vermont, or the Berkshire’s of Massachusetts are easily accessible.
A trip to Connecticut would not be complete without some antiquing.
There are numerous shops throughout the state as well as some right up the road.
